How are you exiting from kde? Are you doing it from the K-start,
or using ctrl-alt-backspace?

The desktop icons are in your $HOME/Desktop2 or $HOME/Desktop
directory, and can be deleted with any file manager or even using
the CLI ``rm filename'' command.
