Right now, my money is on the cable. Since IDE cables are dirt cheap,
i'd replace that first and see if there is any improvement. As for the
power supply, i rather doubt that's the problem, unless your PS is
underrated for the number of devices attached to it. I'd say its far
more likely that the IDE controller is failing, which would then be a
mobo issue.
