Having also installed VMware many times, I would say that if it can't find
the headers, then you don't have the headers available. Is that possible?
On my SuSE system, whenever it asks that question, it has already found the
headers under /lib/modules/2.4.8....... and all I have to do is hit enter to
take the default.
