Hi Skippy; yes I read your SxS!  I'm looking for a way to cover my $%#. 
 I thought that if I just found the config file that was used to 
compile the kernel that came with the  distro when I loaded this up, 
then I would be safe.  But it sounds like you're saying that such a 
file might not be available until I actuallly compile a new kernel?
