Linux network / admin help please: I am helping to manage a linux VPS which seems to have a mystery outgoing connection to an ip address that is causing /tmp/ to fill up with thousands of cookies which eventually causes the VPS to run out of inodes and crash.
I've blocked the ip address in the firewall which has prevented new cookies. However, iptables appears to be showing an ongoing amount of outgoing traffic being dropped. Can anyone tell me if there is a simple way to identify what specific scripts are creating outgoing connections? My guess is it will be a wordpress plugin somewhere. Any suggestions on how I can debug the source of this traffic would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
