I'm using Logitech MX re-chargeable. I bit sluggish to wake up from sleep - not good at killing monsters in Heretic - but otherwise very convenient, good grip, 5m range, works even when the base is behind the printer, lots of buttons on all sides. I have it for 5 years now and the battery still lasts for a week after a 3h charge. When I connected it first time it just worked and all buttons were functional in gnome +compiz.
