What implementation strategies are being used for wireless device
integration to the typical home \ SOHO network?

Is it worth the time of setup and expense of running a separate gateway
system or better to just grab an off the shelf all in one DSL-WLAN-LAN box?
No hard and fast rules - it depends mostly on your environment, budget and
patience. And users.

If its just for you and trusted types, a plain old AP bridged to your LAN is
fine. Nice and simple and nothing gets in the way.

Combo router/APs are okay, but they're like any multifunction... very hard to
replace one part.

If you have users without clues then a routed wireless subnet is good
protection, as long as the rules between them aren't wide open.

Personally I have a firewall with segmented LANs for home and for clug/horse,
and my AP is on the LAN. However I'm contemplating changing that to a routed
wireless SSID which is internet access only, and a separate SSID bridged with
the LAN for my own use.

Any questions please ask.
