Curious, I tried that and get a slightly different error message: Cp: reading 'filename': Input/output error Maybe this points to some issue with ext4 and reading the large file from it?? Anyway, googled for that slightly different error text. Found a suggestion to try using 'rsync' instead of 'cp'. When I ran rsync it paused for a long time at the 2GB mark, but it has now carried on and is 75% done, looks like it is going to work. So, I wonder what is up with the 'cp' command. Lucky I haven't put linux on my wife's computer yet, this sort of basic copy thing not working would have just caused me unending grief as she would expect things to just work...
