Hi,
I don't have any hard data, but I suspect they will generate noise
like a 747 does..
Cheers,
Derek.

And the worst thing - they're doing to inhale electricity like its free.
There's probably more computing power in a modern i5 than all of
these combined.

And then there is the other "worst thing" to add: of all that
electricity going into them very little is actually converted into
useful content (data on disk, or something going out on a network
cable), while most of the energy is ultimately converted into heat
inside the server boxes and will have to move and be dissipated into
the environment. Now unless you are planning on setting this all up
open-air under a tarp, you may have to consider beefing up the HVAC
system significantly before installing the servers (although, if you
are living in a typical Christchurch home and don't have a logburner,
you can alternatively use these servers as cheap and geek-looking
heaters, even if you don't really require any data processing at
all). Add some old CRT monitors and let a very simple piece of
software display full-screen rectangles of a solid colour that
changes over time, and your living room will get this nicely relaxing
soft glow! Oh, sorry, I forgot - do the servers have anything colour
graphics?
Actually I don't know... on checking, there are no VGA ports on
anything, you have to do server maintenance with ilo to get "console"
access.
