Recently I replaced my old webcam with a Logitech C920 and I'm struggling to find a way to enable its microphone when it is not mapped on /dev/video1 even though it is unmutted in pavucontrol.
In the PC I have another video device, a LifeView TV card, and the old webcam was constantly mapped on /dev/video1 I wrote udev rules and set all programs that I know of to use the symlinks, but unless at boot I have the luck to have the webcam mapped on /dev/video1 the mike takes no sound. Also no luck when I try to “force” its mapping on /dev/video1 by booting with the webcam unplugged and plug it in before or after the logon Only works if it happens at boot time. I use Ubuntu 12.04 64bit. Any suggestions where to start looking?
