Total convert here. Apart from anything else, you can analyse and tune
the web server and server side processing separately ( if PHP, then you
can properly use APC as well, which is even better ).

And, as a free bonus, the devs can fiddle with .htaccess to their hearts
delight, but it's not going to make any difference (:
