In my experience in installing GNU/Linux on a Windows 8 machine is that you
need kludge the BIOS to turn UEFI off when you want to boot Linux and turn
it on again when you want to reboot into Windows. I am having fun with my
new $500 laptop (4GB RAM, 1TB HDD) and an integrated WiFi dongle,
eliminating the need to buy a dongle itself.
