The first version of the classic VI editor with proper UTF-8 support has
completed beta testing and has been released now officially: Vim 6.0.

This is a major milestone towards ubiquitous UTF-8 support under Linux!

If you are a vim package maintainer for a distribution, please ensure
that the multi-byte support is always compiled in in your RPM! Please
test vim by editing some ISO 10646-1/UTF-8 files like

   http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/ucs/examples/UTF-8-demo.txt

in a UTF-8 locale under xterm.
