As far as I know, SuSE provides as good UTF-8 support as is feasible at the moment (given the level of support in the source packages), but doesn't switch it on by default during installation as this would still break too many things. You will have to set the relevant environment variables (e.g., LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8) yourself, so only SuSE users who know what they are up to will be confronted with UTF-8. Markus -- Markus G.
