[Originally I sent this privately, but I'm resending to the list

busy, but I also can conceive that you have some sort of filtering in
place to get rid of non-list mail sent to addresses subscribed to
mailing lists. In fact, I sometimes do this. Also, I just noticed
that I never actually attached the attachment...]

No problem! :)

Sounds fantastic. I look forward to the day when it is.

Sigh. I saw this and figured it had to be the missing link.
Unfortunately, adding it seems to have solved nothing. :(

For troubleshooting purposes, I ran the following sequence of
commands:

  [EMAIL PROTECTED] ddm]
  $ env | egrep "LC_|LANG|XMOD" > env.txt
  [EMAIL PROTECTED] ddm]
  $ echo >> env.txt
  [EMAIL PROTECTED] ddm]
  $ locale >>env.txt
  [EMAIL PROTECTED] ddm]
  $ echo >> env.txt
  [EMAIL PROTECTED] ddm]
  $ env >> env.txt

The resuls of this are attached. My distro is RH 9 with all updates
from before Feb 12 or so applied. I'm slightly out of date,
including some X packages, but I don't think the fixes would affect
this.  Maybe I'm wrong...

I should also mention (but didn't originally) that Ami is version
1.2.2-3 from Red Hat. I have no idea if this is the latest, or where
to get the latest. The URL given in the package info seems to only
have up to 1.0.11, as best as I can tell.

Well, it depends on the exact combination of settings I used, and the
particular program. IIRC, if I set LANG=ko_KR.UTF-8 and
LC_MESSAGES=en_US.UTF-8, most programs work as expected (except that I
can't enter Hangeul). But, at least one program I tried still
displayed Korean menus. Ah! Yes, it seems KDE apps display Korean
with these settings... KCalc and konsole both give me korean. But I'm
pretty sure a non-KDE app did this also.

However, there was a specific release of mozilla, I think 1.4.1, which
gave me Korean menus if and only if I set LANG=ko_KR.x... I don't
know why that is, and I'm not going to try to find out. :)

Thanks for your help, but so far, no luck.
