I didn't know that. I take that as a sign that the idea indeed is

Yes, it would probably have been easier before kerneld was
replaced by kmod.

I would like to do that. Maybe I can, maybe not. I would like to
hear from anybody who would like to help or can give any advice.
I have never made kernel stuff before.
