I don't think we're quite ready to deprecate all the standards-conforming
terminals, emulators, and applications in the world. Let's instead
deprecate those that flagrantly violate the standards by putting graphic
characters in the the control areas, rather than bending over backwards
to accommodate them. UTF-8 and ISO-4873, 2022, and 6429 can and SHOULD
coexist. We are not the ones to repeal standards that all the world has
agreed upon.
