Mine jumps too.  There seem to be two issues.  1) Holding the pan
"button" down causes the program to repeatedly pan by a small
increment.  The camera seems to pan very quickly with a relatively
long time between steps so The motion is very jerky.  It is impressive
how quickly the camera actuators work.  They actually make a loud
ticking sound as each step takes place.  2) When panning there is a
certain position that "hickups" for lack of a better description.  The
camera seems to briefly move in the backwards direction and then
catches itself and continues the forward motion.  This only seems like
it happens with panning in left direction (eg. when using the
downward-facing pan button).  The rightwards pan ticks forward
monotonically, (even if not that smoothly).
