With the Linux UVC driver ? I seem to remember the r5u870 wasn't completely
UVC-compliant. Weren't you using a r5u870 specific driver ?

The above message looks weird. With the latest driver version the second line
("Failed to query...") should not be fatal.

The workaround applies to Logitech webcams only so it won't help here.

Make sure you are using the latest driver version. Delete every occurrence of
uvcvideo.ko in /lib/modules/`uname -r` before installing the driver from
source. This will prevent loading an older version by mistake.

Once you're sure you're using the latest version, check the kernel log. The
third line ("Failed to initialize...") should have disappeared, or something
else should have been inserted before.

I'll try :-)
