Hello folks; I just joined after extensive googling and finally finding the message here that the Hercules Dualpix worked with skype, and indeed it does (skype 2.0b that is..)
Now, I have compiled and installed uvcvideo, V4L and just about anything vaguely related from apt-get on my Debian lenny 2.6.22-3-k7 But Ekiga still says my video driver doesn't support the requested format. And camorama says my /dev/video0/ is not there when it most certainly is -- and it sure looks like a device; too.? Should my webcam work outside of skype ? I When I plug it in, I get "cannot get freq at ep 0x84 which seems to be a common problem with webcams but which means nothing to me.. Elsewhere it was suggested that reloading the module with trace=15 might help.. it didn't for me.. Although I am a linux user since RedHat 3, I am still no guru, especially with drivers and modules, and even less with video; so let's not ignore the basics.. I may be missing something fundamental.. I can send usb logs and lsusb output and all if useful, but I thought I would just ask first, can I get my cam to work in other linux apps or only skype for now ? thanks, John
