OK, I've rechecked and it still works. I'm using Debian "testing", but with
a vanilla 2.6.24 kernel built from kernel.org sources, and with uvcvideo
from SVN; both SVN revisions 173 and the latest 193 work.

At least, I get a good picture when I press the "Test" button in Skype's
preferences window. I haven't really been able to perform a video call with
Skype so far, as it requires that the video chip supports two Xv overlays.
My (fairly old) laptop only supports one, so during the call, I only ever
got to see myself and not the other side.

The webcam is connected directly to the laptop.

<snip little rant about Skype developers not being allowed to look at OSS
due to company policy, and thus making more mistakes during the Skype for
Linux implementation than necessary.>

Cheers,

  Richard
