Erwin, a while back on this list I tried to use kopete and got a black screen. It turned out that kopete had to be patched to get the video. See below.
In addition EKIGA requires the pwlib v4l2 plugin to find the camera. On my Suse system it is called pwlib-plugins-v4l2. Note luvcview works without the above plugin. Just tried ekiga 2.0.9 and 2.0.12 both work fine. When I changed from 2.0.9 to 2.0.12 I had to reinstall gconf2 All of the above is on 2.6.22.17-0.1-default. Laurent mentioned that mplayer should work, I can get it to run but I cannot find the command that points it at the /dev/video0 YMMV Brian " My patch to add support for uvc in Kopete SVN is ready. You can download it at: <http://www.alexandredenis.net/software/kopete-uvc/kopete-uvc-patch-20060111.tgz> There is a README enclosed with instructions. This patch fixes the following: -- improves YUYV decoding (colors corrected) -- adds MJPEG support (decoder from luvcview) -- fixes image size detection -- fixes V4L version detection (if V4L2 support is detected from the device, don't try V4L1!) What is not implemented yet: -- most controls (brightness/contrast/saturation) are not implemented for V4L2 in Kopete at all. Please report how it works. If it is ok, I will submit it for inclusion in Kopete SVN.
