Hi Andreas, In regards to guvcview still image capture, when in MJPG mode, the standard Huffman tables are added to the captured frame and in YUV mode a built-in jpg compressor is used. I had no problems with this so far (tested in Ubuntu, Debian and OpenSuse ), but if you could post me your jpg file maybe I can understand what's wrong, also have you tested with the other formats available (png, bmp) are these also giving you trouble ?
There are also several compression formats for avi capture, being that the highest compression is achieved with MJPG, I intend to support MPG in the future but for now I'm more concerned with stability and translations, for these I need people to test the software and post back any bugs, errors or comments that could help improve guvcview.
