No particular reason aside from the fact that no one submitted it yet.
I have a slightly modified version in my patchset [1], just need to make
sure it is clean and meet the kernel guidelines. It includes patches
from Mariano Alvira and a few modifcations of mine (so that the driver
call CLOSE and OPEN to the devices upon initialization, in order to
reset it).
