VirtualBox does work with 3.9-rc3 FWIW. But yes, tracking the latest
kernels means sometimes VirtualBox will not work for a time (or you'll
have to upgrade frequently).

Nouveau is getting good enough to where I don't even install the nvidia
driver anymore (but I don't play games). The OSS ATI driver is good too
so long as you don't have much in the way of 3d requirements (but even
accelerated desktop is fine).
