This could be a good idea. I think we can display a list on the website
pointing to the people that are in charge of each country to collect
broken iPod's.

It really depends on the amount of money the buyer want to give to our
project. If the shipping is outrageously expensive I might offer it (or
find some ways to make it cheaper, I know some people traveling around
the world).

Yes, as a community we can probably organize a tree-like hardware
collect mechanism where each volunteer for one country try to gather
enough hardware and send it to us.

Great.

We're not sure yet on how to extract the content of the ROM we are
collecting data about this and contacting people. Whatever method we
find I suspect that we do need 5-10 chips, no more. So don't make this
hunt for broken iPods too serious (we don't want to get 100 of these ! :)).
