Hmm, I just read the entire API in under five minutes.  It's terribly
underwhelming: I'm all of a sudden not so intimidated by these weird Twinax
cards ;-)

This API is a bit Windows-centric, though.

Under Linux, the direct API is going to be reading and writing records from a
character device, but it should be easy to implement this API on top of it,
especially since a lot of the functions look like "pop this flag into a
packet and send it" (SendPrinterStatus, ResetPrinter, SendDisplayData,
SendCursorPosition... all of these are going to be pretty easy).

It also doesn't seem as dependent on the SNA stuff as I might have thought.
I'm going to go looking through linux-sna and discussing with some of
those people and do some research, and unless I find that someone has already
done this for Linux (I highly doubt it), I'm going to start a SourceForge
project.
