I'd guess there are folk more qualified than me to give a presentation
on custom kernel building, but I'd be happy to take this one,

I think the KOffice project is progressing rapidly, and we should consider
that in addition to StarOffice. For my last couple of scientific
presentations, I've used LaTeX, and I'm begining to appreciate it more and
more. For my presentation on LaTeX, I'm going to use LaTeX (!), and create a
PDF, which I would be happy to have up on the website if others think it
worthwhile.

What about the idea of talking to Best Buy or CompUSA, and seeing if we can
have a couple of their demo computers running KDE and GNOME, so people can
come in and play around with them? We would install and set up the computers
for them, and leave contact info near the display.
