Correct.  You do need to supply power to the Pi, obviously.

Ehh... no, not really.  I just hacked it together in an afternoon.  I
plugged in the camera and installed Motion
(https://motion-project.github.io/) to record movies when motion is
detected and to provide an HTTP feed for viewing the camera output, and
that's about it.

I happen to use a Pi 4, but I have used a Pi 3 in the past and it had
sufficient horsepower and is cheaper.
