15 or so years ago, I did the system design for a linux based video camera which could operate through a firewall as a favour to a friend. Could be done without too much hacking but securing it was the hardest part. External server was needed to maintain “I am here” dynamic IP address cache since it was assumed that the end user camera IP address and external IP address could change at any time. Could be done using DHT instead of an external cache server in theory. It was implemented and sold.
