Mark,

Thanks for the ideas.  It still is giving me grief and I may try 
another distro soon.  I think i may have been wrong about it 
freezing.  I think it is simply not finding the key board.  I have 
been able to get to differant quasi-GUI screens and no matter what 
one i get to and what it is prompting me to do it doesnt recognize 
anything i type.  I tryed an external keyboard but it didnt help.  
Any thoughts?
