But, they were networked as Windows machines. I just got Linux installed on two of them when I had this Windows crash - unrelated to the Linux install. I don't know how to network them as Linux machines - so maybe that's my first step. Because once I CAN see the windows files, I'll need a way to transfer them from that machine to my other machine. The files are mostly pictures (some datafiles) and will be rather large. My only other viable option would be to copy them to CD and I don't know how to do that either. I have a 250G hard drive on the other machine, so my best option is to copy the files to that machine. One is running FC1 and the other is FC3. I have the SuSE install disks (that I purchased) and I may go to town today and look for the 'point and click Linux' book that I believe carries the SimplyMepis CD with it. Any help with this? Or what should I look up to find out how to network these machines? I should mention that I am no stranger to computers or to programming - I am a professional programmer, just new to Linux. I've always worked with Dos & Windows (except way back there (1990) when I worked with unix for a short while. But my SUN workstation was basically used to connect me to the IBM mainframe where I programmed in IBM mainframe C) Thank EVERYONE for ALL your help!
