Open a terminal and type
ipconfig eth0 

(That one might be in the faq, I'm supposedly working right now, so
don't have time to check but if it is in the faq, Chad's not going to
reimburse you for that book if Mepis doesn't support NTFS)  :)

Note that as Michael pointed out, I mistyped that one, it should be 
My\ Documents.  :)

Well, without getting into NFS or samba, if we're talking about Linux
boxes, by using ssh.  (Assuming they're running the sshd daemon.   You
can figure that out by going

ps ax | grep sshd

That will bring you to the other (Linux) boxes in a text console.
