Yes, but not knowing SuSE, not sure if it would be a nuisance or not--to write to the / directory or /root directory, you'd probably need sudo, and that could be a problem with scp'ing things. (Sorry, I'm sleepy, but basically, most machines don't allow ssh as root which can, at times, cause problems with copying between one machine to another place that needs root privilege. So, ~I~ think the easiest way to do it is put it in cindy1's /home directory, then, on cindy1 do an su to root and put it in the root directory. However, if this has anything to do with that space issue, then, the other possibility, which I wouldn't recommend if this machine was attached to the outside world (but I believe you said it is not) would be to allow root login on the remote machine. This idea goes against all my habits, even if it's not connected to the outside, but anyway, on most systems there's an /etc/ssh/sshd_config file. In there, you will probably see a line, commented out with a # (hey, did you know its real name is octothorpe?) that says PermitRootLogin no. Change the no to yes, and remove the # to uncomment it. Restart sshd killall -SIGHUP sshd then do the scp thingie as [EMAIL PROTECTED] WINS on your dial (sorry that's probably a NYC joke) err, as [EMAIL PROTECTED] and you can copy it to the root directory.
