This doesn't make any sense.
If you burned, and then confirmed the burn was successful, then the
stuff should still be on the CD.
Some CD burning software burns to CD/RW in various formats that allow
you to use the CD as an extension of the file system, and some of these
software packages must be installed and running, for you to read from
the CD.
I'm not sure of the details on this, but I know I have seen CD's that
contained information, and were readable on the computer that made them,
running the software that controlled the burn, but were not readable on
other computers, lacking that software.
