Hi 

See, first of all do the downloading of tool (If u
have not) - "explore2fs" for windows OS..
at
http://uranus.it.swin.edu.au/~jn/explore2fs/explore2fs-1.07.zip

When u run this tool, u can see the partition of linux
as like windows explorer format....from there u can
take a backup (with exporting the data in windows
partition with right click on folders - select export)

once finished with backup, change ur linux ver...go
with RH9 or FC1....or go with FC-3 for kernel 2.6.x
