Hi all,
After years of using RH Linux (5.2 to 8.0) I just spent 7 frustrating
hours trying to install ANY Linux on my HP ze4805wm laptop and googling
and trying to install Linux. I tried Ubuntu (fails in so many ways),
SuSE 9.X (can't resize my NTFS for some unknown reason) and Redhat 9.X
(no keyboard on initial install screen so no-go).
I need to KEEP my WinXP for work at HP so I need to resize my NTFS
partition to install Linux or anything else. SuSE bitched about
defragging so I did and WinXP moves everything on defrag except one
unknown file that makes NTFS use over 50% of my 30G HD. If I could move
that file I'd use only 20% of my HD but it just stays put using 55% of
the hard drive causing SuSE to bitch about not enough space at 8G (it
takes over 8G for this op sys? OS/2 4.52 uses a min of 500M, WTF?). I'm
about 1 minute from reformatting my HD totally. If I had a floppy drive
I could run Partition Magic 6 and resize everything then MAYBE SuSe or
something would install...
Anyway, how do I install ANY Linux on my laptop this weekend? I DON'T
have internet access on it yet so DON'T say Gentoo...
Sincerely,
WarpDavey, OS/2 for 15 years and posting from OS/2 Warp 4.52 which
works...except on my laptop.
