Hi Scott,
Try www.distrowatch.com for your Linux research. I'd
try LiveCDs first to see if your hardware is all
compatible. If you're on dial-up I'd select
Mini-Distros like Puppy, Slax, or Damn Small Linux.
Or pick up a book/CD package for the beginner that has
Mepis or other Knoppix-style LiveCDs.
A word on the DistroWatch list, double check the RAM
needs, as some need 256 MB to run like Ubuntu and
Suse.
