None of what you list below is an operating system, BTW.  Furthermore, I
don't think any reasonable person thinks that MS is outright stealing
code.  They base their code off of other peoples' software ideas.

No, but MySQL is.  Not that I think SQL Server is a copy of MySQL.  SQL
Server's performance sucks way too much to be a copy of something that
performs that well.

Here's why: Marketing.  MS has the majority of the world believing that
their products are the only reasonable products to use.  Their
customers' ignorance is their sales.
