I seem to remember a similar joint agreement with IBM regarding
OS/2....anyone recall how that went?

Basically the partership broke up while MS was developing the code for
the latest version - "NT OS/2 3.0", which never hit the market, at
least not under that name. It was renamed Windows NT, which has since
morphed into Windows XP, while the IBM OS/2 languished and died a slow
death.

Given MicroSofts history, I would say Novell is in trouble.
