Not so long ago I got tired of spyware, viruses and whatnot on my Windows XP machine so I went out and got a new drive on which I installed Mepis Linux from their livecd. Its been just great and I've although I kept my XP install around I've never booted back into it. Mepis comes with a good number of apps already installed and its easy to get more for anything I need to do.
