All you have to do is call the number it gives and they have an automated system that will give you a new activation code. If for some reason the automated system cannot do it, all you have to do is wait for the live person to come on the line and explain to them you are re-installing the OS because some peice of software corrupted the registry and they will give you a new activation code. No need to pay Bill more money.
XP Pro does not need activation, BTW. As for Distros, you might take a look at Fedora Core 5 (FC 6 is out now too, I believe) - he install is incredibly easy and it picked up all my hardware without a hitch. Only issue I had was a cursor problem with Nvidia video drivers, but it was fairly simple to fix. Its probably been fixed in FC 6 Norm Higgs http://forbiddenpc.com https://www.linkedin.com/e/fpf/4018099 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mark" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, November 06, 2006 11:30 PM Subject: [LINUX_Newbies] So long M$ Hi, Well after I got a message saying I have installed Winblows XP too many times (I wonder why I had to re-intall it, hmm) I decided enough was enough. I paid for the program, I should be able to install it as many times as I want ! Not like Bill Gates needs more money. Anyway, I have installed a few different distros in the past, SuSe, Redhat, Linspire, and Mandrake, but I always get frustrated and go back to M$. Not this time, I am determined to learn this. I have Linspire and Mandrake. I am thinking about d/l Ubuntu or Mandriva. So, if anyone is new or learning also and wants to chat, I have yahoo pager. I don't know much about it, but I am determined this time. Yahoo id: oroberous or skype: zroberous Mark To unsubscribe from this list, please email [EMAIL PROTECTED] & you will be removed. Yahoo!
