(Stefan, please don't top post. A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text. Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing? A: Top-posting. This was probably said by someone who likes Ubuntu or one of those. Ubuntu by the way, has some serious issues with some video cards that they haven't yet fixed although many less newcomer friendly distributions have fixed it--so much for Ubuntu as an advocate's distro. Many distributions now offer a live CD, which will enable you to test your hardware before installing it. Many many distros are Debian based, Ubuntu being the best known one. You might take a look at http://www.distrowatch.com and look at some of these. Vector has, in my experience, been very good with a variety of hardware. (It is Slackware based, not Debian. However, many people would disagree with the statement that the best Linux is Debian based.) -- Scott Robbins PGP keyID EB3467D6 ( 1B48 077D 66F6 9DB0 FDC2 A409 FA54 EB34 67D6 ) gpg --keyserver pgp.mit.edu --recv-keys EB3467D6 Giles: Since Angel lost his soul, he's regained his sense of whimsy. ------------------------ Yahoo!
