Even mutt, by default, sets the cursor at the top. A car, by default,
is set in park and you make it move by doing things. Robert might
prefer his cursor at the bottom, I actually prefer it at the top. With
mutt, I use the keyboard to move down the email, and delete unnecessary
parts as I go.

What is preferred is inline posting as if it were a conversation.

This has often become a religious war, but as said in the faq, many of
the people most able to help you won't even bother if you top post
(among other things.)

It is considered the standard, at least on Unix and Unix like tech
lists, to post inline. Back when I was on MS tech lists it seemed to
be the same there, actually. Of course, the real gurus can get away
with top posting and everything else, but as Eric Raymond once said
about something else, "Alan Cox can get away with it. You can't."

for a smoke.
Xander: For twenty-one hours?
Willow: It's addictive, you know.
