I have an old NEC laptop currently running Windows 2000. I have a
Lucent Wavelan wireless pcmcia card and a pcmcia Fast Ethernet PC Card
that connects me to DSL via our home hard-wired network.

I'd like to install Ubuntu Linux on the laptop, but I'm a little
concerned that my wireless card or ethernet card may not work with it.
I'm mostly concerned about wireless.

Does Ubuntu offer plug and play for these devices, or will I need to
do some manual installation? Are there special drivers required?

Thanks,
Spence
