Hey ya'll,
Ok, after trying a number of distros, I finally got my sound card to
work by installing an *older* version of Ubuntu (=6.10), which I had
laying around from when I first had the idea of moving to Linux. When
I got 6.10 I was using dialup and couldn't figure out how to get an
Internet connection working. Now I have cable, and so this no longer
matters.
Questions: Since when do new versions of operating systems come with
*fewer* drivers? Why would half a dozen or more current distros be
unable to set my computer up with sound, but a distro that's almost a
year old had no problem?
By the way, the reason I put "Xunil" in the subject line is because to
get my computer to work I had to go backwards:-) I know, not very
funny, but I never claimed to be a comedian.
