I've been having issues with oosplash.bin frequently remaining
resident as a CPU-cycle-chewing zombie process, even while the main
program works and exits normally, under three different (Mandriva or
Mandriva-derived) versions of Linux (Mandriva'08, PCLOS'07, SAM). Has
anyone else observed this?

*I* know how to find said processes via "ksysguard", "top" or "pgrep"
and kill-9 them, but my off-the-street internet-browsing clientele
doesn't. And then they gripe to me when the machine's slow (when I'm
there, which isn't -- and can't be -- all the time).
