Hi.

I want to try a new distro. LiveCD just work with a bootloader option
"acpi=off" or "acpi=ht".

I was searching in bugzilla kernel tracker and it looks, than in order
to fix that problem, I have to patch the new kernel.

The instruccions are pretty confusing, at least for me.

I have two questions:

1.- If I recompile a kernel wrong, do I have to reinstall and start
all over again?

2.- Can I probe a new distro (and patch its kernel, and recompile) in
a virtual machine, without affecting my system?
