Hi,
I haven't seen the topic of ECC RAM mentioned yet.
Is there any chance that ECC will be supported for any
motherboards any time soon? The long-in-the-tooth 440BX
perhaps? What is needed to do this, aside from an ECC-capable
motherboard? SPD programming?
I'm in the process of building a diskless router out of a Matsonic
DoC combo (as soon as I get a working replacement motherboard),
and the Matsonic is fine for that purpose. (Kudos to SiS!)
But I wouldn't want to deploy a server without ECC RAM. It's bad
enough even trying to find an inexpensive motherboard that
supports ECC these days; the whole Intel chipset debacle has
kept the 440BX popular.
