no I wasn't using docmil_fill_inbuf.c, another thing I do remember from that era is needing to place zero's directly behind kernel.bin.gz for padding, if I didn't I got CRC error on last chunk as well, I'm not using the latest makelf stuff yet but maybe some zero padding "might" do the trick.
